Canary Wharf

The "new" financial centre for London. This place is amazing because it is surrounded by water.. ye lah, since dulu it was a wharf. So the buildings are like on "islands". Very calming... and you know chinese feng shui lah kan, good to be around water ( i think? )

anyway... couldn't take many photos coz as I was shooting away, a security guard came by to say
mam... you're not suppose to take photos in Canary Wharf without written permission from the Administration of the Wharf
wooooo... terkejut kejap. Never heard of that before... in a public place. Tapi since I takut kena tangkap, I pun put my camera away... but not before taking these shots

dunno betul ke tak lah... maybe they're just paranoid post 9/11 and sebab I pakai tudung? whatever...

It was my final day in London... flying home that night after a brilliant week of jalan-jalan

I've managed to cover all the places that I wanted to visit and couldn't do more shopping coz bag dah penuh... so pagi decided to pergi tengok Borat kat Leicester Square (gosh... that movie was obscene!! confirm kena "butcher" kat Malaysia)

Lepas movie, we jalan2 kat Chinatown (all chinatowns around the world sama je...) and headed to Cass Business School coz Sarimah nak return buku. I would have been there too this year had it not been for a "divine intervention"...

Sarimah & I then headed for Girl's place near Canary Wharf. Her place is NICE I don't mind living in a place like that!

Mode of transportation

escalators... a common feature in tube stations
the infamous tube signage

London has the best public transportation system... the tube, train & bus goes everywhere!!
The only thing not nice is the price... mahal especially bila dah convert to Ringgit. Kalau naik taxi jangan cakap lah...

Now they've got Oyster... like our Touch n Go, but the upside is that there is a daily cap.

I tried it all... tube, train, bus, DLR, boat. I learnt during my 2 weeks stay that taking the tube may not necessarily be the fastest way... sometimes taking the bus or walking is lagi cepat. Plus is was nearing winter, jalan kaki keeps the body warm

I walked SO much masa kat London... every night kaki sakit.. dah tua

Camden and Regent's Canal

Got off the bus several stops early.. takut terlepas So menapak lah sikit, but I'm glad i did coz managed to see more of the area. Tanya directions sikit and I soon found myself next to the canal.

The canal used to be the life line connecting the industrial areas of the midlands to the docks in London. In its heyday, it was the "highway" for goods and people. Now it's a charming feature of London which many tourists leave out of their itinerary. What a loss coz it's really nice! Especially when you get to see how the "locks" operate. They're like a mini Suez canal...

I also managed to shop for some shoes in Camden. Terjumpa Aldo outlet... apa lagi, borong lah. Great prices.. and it was easy to find my size

A short detour to Hyde Park

View all 6 photos...
Headed for Camden this morning. After much contemplation, decided to take the bus instead of the tube. So kena ambik bus somewhere near Oxford Street. While waiting for the bus, I crossed the road towards Hyde Park... saw a tiny bit of the park. Jadi lah...

It was a grey morning, but at least it wasn't raining like the previous two days... the fickle London weather was testing me... ye lah, it wouldn't be London if it was sunny and bright all the time, isn't it? London really wanted to let me experience "the weather"
